Our Goals for Active Adults
Our goal for the adults and seniors of East Boston is to improve quality of life and connections with peers. We do this through free, year-round social and recreational programming and by providing information and referrals to other direct services.
A Variety of Activities
Games and conversation
Arts and crafts projects
Day or overnight field trips when funds are available
Knitting/Crochet circles
Weekly dance and exercise classes
Special events, including the Piers Park picnic, the Mayors’ picnic, Christmas and Valentine parties, etc.
Community Service Projects
Volunteer opportunities
Wellness & Support
Supportive visits by seniors to hospitalized or home-bound program participants
Support and grief counseling, provided formally and informally by fellow program participants
Health information talks at least one time per month
A guest speaker series which hosts monthly speakers on issues important to seniors, including doctors, lawyers speaking on living wills and estate planning, and nursing home representatives
Led by a Caring Team
The coordinator of our Active Adults program is an experienced social worker, with the counseling and human services experience necessary to high quality, professional care and programming to the adults and seniors of East Boston.
